Quakertown High School
Quakertown High School marks the third recent collaboration between The Architectural Studio and Quakertown Community School District. The opportunity of working with the District on a ongoing basis allowed TAS to comprehensively address a number of educational, sustainable and facilities-related programs. For example, the design of the Quakertown High School is informed by principles evolved in the development of High Tech High in San Diego, California, widely regarded as one of the most progressively designed schools in the nation. Transparency and flexibility have been the two salient principles guiding the design, which will provide the technology and physical fabric to foster learning in the twenty-first century. The school incorporate a Cyber Commons, flexible teaching spaces, multi-purpose seminar rooms and gallery spaces for the display of student work.
Our earlier projects for the District established a Web-based mechanical controls system with has now been extended to four other buildings. All other designs have provided for improved custodial facilities, including custodial office space and have provided for improved wire management and secure data closets. We
